Champion trees are the biggest trees for their species. Therefore, each species will have a champion. As more people become aware of the project we will likely continue to discover new champion trees from species without a champion and, occassionally, newfound trees will displace smaller trees that previously held the record. "Bigness" is a quantitative, composite measure of tree trunk diameter, crown spread, and height. If you think you have a really big tree let us know.
